Merlin saw the black diamond and it clicked. It was mystically charged and served as a transference device. He should have guessed that Morgana would never allow herself to lose. Merlin had to make sure she would never return and her transference spell would not work. He quickly enchanted a blue diamond that he kept for such an occasion. It was genius as it would become the vessel for Morgana’s own transference spell and at the same time would serve as her soul’s infinite prison. Over her body, he uttered a counter-transference spell and a shadow was sucked into it. Morgana was now trapped inside the crystalline object.

Merlin and his friends buried Morgana at the sight of the battle, with all of her fallen men. She did not deserve a proper burial, but they still did not want vultures tearing up her lifeless body. Merlin was finally coming down from his high and realizing the reality of the situation. Everyone now knew he had magic; they knew he was Emrys and a Pashu Master. Yes, Arthur had said he would accept him, but that was all hypothetical. Now, though, it was real. Merlin was curious to see how Arthur and his Knights felt, so he avoided eye contact and focused on filling the graves with dirt with the help of the Knights.

"You did well, young wizard," said Phoebe softly.

Merlin smiled weakly and glanced up at the mystical flaming bird. "I did what had to be done. Thank you for your help, great friend."

"It was my pleasure." The burning phoenix bowed her head in respect.

"I do have one more favor to ask of you, though," said Merlin. "Take Amara to Drakona Isle so that Iridia can raise her how a dragon deserves to be raised. Iridia and Amara along with Oceania, Tantalion, and Eureya are likely the last of their kind, and I would rather not have one of them be evil."

The Great Phoenix grinned, startling the Knights who hadn't known that flaming birds could grin.

"I shall do as you say, young sorcerer." And with that, the phoenix flew away, followed closely by Amara. The sky blazed orange where Phoebe jetted.

Silence settled over the clearing. Merlin could feel all of his friends standing behind him, staring. He was not sure how to proceed, and neither were they.

"Shall we head back to Camelot?" he said inquisitively, not sure where he stood at the moment.

Arthur stared at him a little longer before nodding. They all trekked toward Camelot for a few hours, and as the sun began to set, they decided to set up camp. Merlin went off by himself to provide distance while the Knights gathered firewood, bringing back some vegetables and roots to cook for dinner. Merlin's hands shook as he struggled to light the fire. He was consumed in his thoughts and did not notice everyone staring at him in concern. Were his nightmares about to become reality? Would they burn him at the pyre as soon as they got back to Camelot? Or maybe he was letting his fertile mind race in circles.
